FPL Power Interruptions

Posted on Oct 31, 2007

Please call FPL at the numbers below EVERY time you experience a Momentary.
-----------------------------------

The momentaries are increasing! Please report all of these interruptions to FPL so we can build a record. The customer service number is 772-462-0555 and the power outage number is 1-800-468-8243. These momentaries are very hard on the appliances and equipment in your home.
---------------------------------

FPL is converting/replacing some of the equipment in our community. This is the reason for the most recent momentaries.
---------------------------------

The lengthy outage we experienced August 20th was due to damaged equipment. 62 homes were impacted. However, the momentaries are increasing and there have been reports of major voltage variations. Please report all of these interruptions to FPL so we can build a record.
The customer service number is 772-462-0555 and the power outage number is 1-800-468-8243.

------------------------------------------------
Once again,we are having a number of momentaries (power on again/off again). Please contact FPL each time it happens at your home.

-------------------------------------------------
From what we have been told by PSL, our power grid is being changed to the one along Glades Cut Off Road. Because the Sewer Plant is a priority for power, we may benefit with earlier reconnection following hurricanes.

If you are still experiencing interruptions please notify PORI.

As you were alerted with the PORI email blast, power was interrupted this week so FPL could remove some of the connections from a major line and move them to another new line. This avoided a major power interruption for our community.

Just when we thought things were getting a lot better all of a sudden we are having many, many momentaries again. Please, please, call FPL every single time your power is interrupted. They can't find the source of the problem if they can't narrow down the location of the problem.

62 homes in Plantation lost their power for over three hours last Friday. We were told that lightening the previous night hit a transformer on Charleston Way, weakened it, and when everyone turned on items the next morning that caused the outage. However the momentaries have improved a great deal. BUT every time you experience one, please continue to call FPL.

If you are still having the momentaries, please call FPL each time it happens. We are having major improvement in the Plantation area, but we need to stay on top of FPL if other neighborhoods are still having a problem.

Hopefully you have noticed a great improvement in the number of "momentaries" that we have each week. However, it is very important that you call FPL every time one of these power interruptions occurs. FPL indicates that it is very difficult to locate the problem for these "momentaries" (on/off, Florida flickers, and other unprintable names)but, if everyone calls, each time it occurs they can narrow down the problem area.

Although the momentaries seem to have lessened, please continue to report every single one to FPL.

50% of the problem connections removed

FPL held a meeting this week with the neighborhood presidents/reps to explain what they are doing to stop the constant power interruptions that we are having in the Reserve. We are all serviced by the "Sabal" substation which is located on the other side of I 95. Approximately 400 customers west of Glades Cut Off Road were removed from our substation on March 16. Those units were responsible for about 50% of our momentaries according to FPL executives. We should see some improvement. It is important however, for every resident to call FPL each time there is a momentary. That way they can narrow down the location in the feeder lines that is a problem.
