Security in PGA Village
Halloween is tonight. Please leave on a front light if you would like "trick or treaters to stop". Some individuals who would rather not open their door, have used the "honor system" leaving a bowl of goodies on the porch. ----------------------------------------------- PLEASE: Walk facing traffic and wear reflective clothing at night. We almost had a major catastrophe last night when a resident who was speeding, passed another resident, and there was a walker straight ahead walking with the traffic. That walker does not know how lucky he is to be alive today.
-------------------------------------- Warren Sonne has raised a number of issues with John Csapo from Kolter and Wackenhut officials. We are having a very slow response.
------------------------------------- Warren has been attempting to schedule a meeting with John Csapo for over a month.
----------------------------------- Please review the recent newsletter for all of the recommendations and improvements that have been made by Security Chairperson Warren Sonne.
---------------------------------------- June 3, 2007 Warren Sonne has been working diligently with Lang Management, Kolter, and Wackenhut to simplify the security process and coordinate all parties. There are still problems with the computer systems and cameras. One of the issues of concern is the number of individuals attempting to enter our community without a drivers license. Please notify all of your friends and family that soon they will be turned away if they do not have a drivers license. PS You must have one to drive legally. ----------------------------- Warren Sonne is attempting to coordinate the efforts of Wackenhut, Lang, and Kolter.
------------------------------
3/6/07 Please come to the PORI Annual meeting, Saturday, March 10 to see all the statistics.
--------------------------------- Excellent presentation by Sheriff Mascara, Wackenhut, and the Fire District representative. Watch for a seminar regarding the nuclear power plant in late February.
--------------------------------- Safety and Security Seminar scheduled for January 25, 2007 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wanamaker Room Speakers: Fire District and Wackenhut ----------------------------------
In an emergency, please call 911 before calling the Main security gate.
---------------------------------------- November 28, 2006 During this holiday season, let's all try to be extra careful about locking doors, closing garage doors, and setting alarms. We need to watch out for one another and at the same time take all the precautions possible to protect ourselves.
-----------------------------------------
Kolter still has not turned off the vendor transponders.
Unfortunately we have had two very disturbing incidents in the community in the last few weeks. Two young people who live here have been verbally abusive to Wachkenhut employees and even a Sheriff's officer. An arrest took place. Please watch out for your neighbors homes if they are away. We need as many eyes and ears as possible.
------------------------------------- Since the installation of radar equipment in the Wackenhut vehicles there has been a substantial reduction in resident speeding violations. At a recent meeting with Kolter representatives, PORI officials once again asked for Kolter to disable the 100 plus transponders that they gave to outside vendors. We will let you know when we receive a response.
----------------------------------
September 17, 2006 A new supervisor has been hired for Wackenhut. -----------------------------------
August 27, 2006 Newsletter will be mailed this week detailing the most recent arrest in PGA Village
July 22, 2006 A few weeks ago, two individuals were spotted by one of our residents, driving in the wrong direction around the circle, and then traveling down Champions Way to the guard gate. They were stopped by Wackenhut officials who called the County Sheriff's office. No arrest was made. The individuals did not have valid United States licenses.
A few days ago, an individual left the Main Street Villas location, drove in the wrong lane to the circle, and proceeded towards the Learning Center. They were observed by Wackenhut, once again, and the County Sheriff's office was contacted. The indivial was arrested for DUI.
June 12, 2006 No additional incidents reported. ----------------------------------- June 2, 2006 Vandalism in the Reserve/PGA Village
Last week a number of trash cans were thrown around in the community and several mailboxes were damaged. Last evening, more mailboxes were completely destroyed. It costs approximately $275 to replace a mailbox in our community. Damage to mailboxes is a Federal issue. Many cans of trash were emptied on an owner’s property between 1:00 and 3:00 this morning. Two cars had their windows broken. (In some cases insurance only covers replacement of the windshield, not the rear window.) The owner of one damaged vehicle is very ill. We are asking each and every one of you who are on property to keep your eyes and ears open. Please watch for any suspicious vehicles, especially trucks, and suspicious behavior. Report it immediately to security at 1-772-489-2583. There will be increased patrols in the Village. Remember to set your alarms when you leave your home. We suggest that you keep your doors closed and garage doors down even when you are home.
It is unfortunate that this type of message has to be sent in our community.
PS. Please be sure that neighbors/friends check on your home while you are away. Phone books and plastic bags in the driveways are a sure sign that no one is home.
May 26, 2006 We are having an increase in the number of incidents of vandalism in our community, i.e. trash cans thrown on other properties, mailboxes damaged, etc. Please stay alert and notify security immediately if you see such activity.
May 8, 2006 Soon the Security Company will stop issueing warnings, and only citations will be issued. Please obey the speed limits in our community.
---------------------------------- May 3, 2006 In the event of an emergency, our security company has nextel equipment for communications, their own radio system, and all of the vehicles have the onstar system. ----------------------------------- April 30, 2006 All persons who enter our community MUST have identification. This is for the safety of everyone. ----------------------------------- April 14 The double gates are being installed to prevent piggy backing of residents. It is believed that this was the way the individuals gained access to then enter a number of homes and remove valuables. ------------------------------------
A number of concerns have been raised by the residents. The PORI executive committee raised these in a meeting with Roy Davidson, Kolter representative. More information will be given to the Presidents/Reps at their quarterly meeting this month. ----------------------------------------- READ THE RECENT MAILING FROM LANG MANAGEMENT VERY, VERY CAREFULLY. Resident Access Information Forms MUST be returned no later than February 28, 2005 All previous information will be deleted from the computer on March 1, 2006.
------------------------------------------ January 10, 2006 Security Issues continue to be of the highest priority to PORI and the Security Committee. Warren Sonne, Chairperson and his committee members meet once a month with Lang and representatives of Wackenhut. If there are any issues you wish them to address please send your comments on the "contact us" form and they will be forwarded.
--------------------------------------- October 16, 2005 On November 15, 2005 the Security Company for PGA Village will change to Wackenhut. Please be aware that you will be required to produce photo ID to enter the Community if you do not have a transponder.
A mailbox in Muirfield was recently blown up. The Sheriff's office is investigating. No additional report has been supplied. We urge all of you to deposit your mail in the large postal container at the east exit guard station. Do NOT put checks in your outgoing mail. --------------------------------------
August 8, 2005 Warren Sonne, the PORI security committee chairperson and committee member Madeleine Warns assisted in the interviews of three potential new security companies. We appreciate Kolter permitting them to have input into the process. Many issues regarding security have been raised in the recent past. Warren and his committee are trying to address many of those issues. But, the responsibility for making this the safest community also rests with the residents who live here. We all must be alert, and report any suspicious behavior or vehicles. ---------------------------
June 20, 2005 Watch for complete details in upcoming newsletter ---------------------------- June 1, 2005 Chairperson of the Security Committee, Warren Sonne met with Roy Davidson of Kolter and the PORI Executive board to dicuss issues that have been raised by the residents. Look for a complete report in the June newsletter. ----------------------------- May 21, 2005 The newly organized Security Committee met this week at the home of Warren Sonne. Many ideas were shared with a number of goals set. Watch for the June newsletter for more details. ----------------------------- May 13, 2005 There has been overwhelming response to our request for members to the Security Committee. The committee will begin meeting next week. A report will be posted on this site as soon as it becomes available. ------------------------------------------------ Due to the increasing concerns over security in PGA Village, PORI is creating a "Security Committee" to begin to address the concerns impacting our community. Previous instances that were reported include the removal of appliances of two homes under construction in Kingsmill, the complete removal of everything from a condo in Castle Pines, and most recently a vehicle which was stolen this past week from Riviera Drive in Clubside. There are also reports of individuals climbing the wall along Commerce Blvd. These situations MUST be reported to Barton Security at the East, West, or South gates. But we as residents can also help.
